Mass awareness programme against corruption stressed

KHULNA, Nov 21, 2019 (BSS) – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque here on Thursday stressed the need to enhance mass awareness programme at elsewhere including offices and educational institutions for building a crime free society.

“It’s high time we prevent corruption. We can’t keep an uneven path of corruption for our future generation. We want to establish such a country which will be free from corruption,” he said.

The Mayor also urged all to raise their voice against corruption together to fight the long persisting social menace effectively.

He was addressing an anti-corruption human chain with divisional and district level government officials, leaders and activists of Socio-Cultural and Political parties and different professional bodies held at the Picture Palace Intersection in Khulna as chief guest today.

Khulna Combine Anti Corruption Alliance (KCACA), a non political organisation, organised the programme.

Convener of the organisation Md Zahangir Alam chaired the human chain programme.

Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU) Prof Dr Md Fayequzzaman, additional divisional commissioner (General) Md Habibul Haque Khan, Managing Director of WASA Md Abdullah, President and General Secretary of Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee Md Mossarraf Hossain and Md Ashrafuzzaman, Ex-President of Khulna Press Club Mokbul Hossain Mintu, among others, addressed.

He mentioned that corruption undermines economic development, increase poverty, exploitation and injustice, prevent good governance, accountability and transparency and create social and political instability and insecurity.

He laid importance on creation of awareness among the mass people, especially the young generation, to eliminate corruption from the society.

Different educational institutions, also organized separate human chain programmes at cities different important places on the issue following month-long view-exchange meeting between KCACA with different bodies to success today’s human chain programme.
