TCB scales up onion sale across country
DHAKA, Nov 21, 2019 (BSS) – The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has scaled up selling onion at Taka 45 per kilogram at division and district levels across the country.
The TCB is selling onion at 50 spots through trucks in the capital city, said a Commerce Ministry press release here today.
According to the release, the government has started importing onion through air and marine routes under special initiatives. The shipments of onion have already started arriving in the country.
The onion is being imported from Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan through different airlines. The government is selling onion through the TCB to keep normal the onion supply and price.
The release said enough local onion (with leaves) has started coming to markets, resulting in fall in the onion price rapidly. The onion supply and its price are being normal.
