Septic tank under residential buildings is a death trap -Nowfel

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 19, 2019 (BSS) – Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel said septic tank under residential buildings becomes a death trap.

He called upon the City Corporation, WASA and CDA to ascertain whether the emission of gas from septic tank is passing properly.

He disclosed it while visiting the gas tragedy spot in Patherghata in the port city this morning.

Barrister Nowfel said there are a number of buildings which were constructed in an unplanned way and it is most essential to ascertain the constructions of building through physical checking.

He also emphasized the need of checking the emission of mayhem gas from the septic tank.

He further said City Corporation, WASA and CDA should launch drives against any unplanned building in the city immediately.

Barrister Nowfel also warned against any harassment to the building owners while conducting the investigations against unplanned buildings.

Replying question to the journalists, Barrister Nowfel said after the explosions we talked with the concerned agencies, probe committee and the probe report will be published very soon.

He also asked the building owners to ascertain whether the emission of gas from septic tank is properly passing or not.
