Tk 1231 cr project for developing DLRS’s skill: Saifuzzaman

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2019 (BSS) – Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury today said the government will launch a Taka 1231 crore project to enhance the capability of
the Department of Land Record and Survey.

“We are trying to develop a sustainable system for land management. A project of the Department of Land Record and Survey (DLRS) involving Tk 1232 crore will start soon for improving its survey capacity. Besides, the tax collection system of land development will be fully digitalized.” he said.

He stated this while inaugurating the 119th Survey and Settlement Training Course for the officials of Administration, Police, Forest and Railway cadre of Bangladesh Civil Service and Bangladesh Judicial Service as the chief guest at the Officers’ Training Institute (OTI) at Savar, a press release said.

DLRS organized the course for 44 officers and it will end on December 29, it added.

The land minister said that work is underway to implement the ‘Digital Land Management System’ project funded by the Government of Korea under the ‘Economic Development Cooperation Fund’.

The project has been undertaken to introduce digital land management in Rajshahi, Chattogram, and Narayanganj City Corporations, Manikganj Municipality, Kushtia Sadar and Dhamrai Upazilas.

While replying to journalists, Saifuzzaman said all officials working in the land offices are being brought under accountability through conducting the anti-corruption drive.

Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government has turned the country into a self-reliant Bangladesh, he said.

He hoped that the concerned ministry can give good news to the nation regarding development in the coming ‘Mujib-Year’.

The programme was addressed, among others, by Land Secretary Md Muksodur Rahman Patwary as the special guest with DLRS Director General Md Taslimul Islam presiding.

DLRS director and also the course director A B M Fazlur Rahman gave the welcome speech in the programme.

Land Ministry Additional Secretary Pradip Kumar Das, DLRS Directors Md Shahjahan and Md Anisuzzaman, officers from the Savar administration, land administration, OTI and Fisheries Training Institute were present on the occasion.
