Govt to procure 50,000 metric tons of wheat

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2019 (BSS) – The government has taken a decision to procure
some 50,000 metric tons of wheat at a cost of Taka 113.62 crore.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public
Purchase held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh
Secretariat today with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur
Razzaque said that M/s Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises Pte Ltd will
supply the aforesaid quantity of wheat with per metric ton of wheat costing
around $268.14 (Taka 22.72 per kg).

The Purchase Committee meeting also approved seven other proposals
including one for signing an agreement with Nippon Koei Bangladesh Ltd. as
the consultant firm for the Japanese economic zone infrastructure development
project at Araihazar in Narayanganj with a contract value of Taka 172.17
crore.

Besides, another proposal has been approved to award a contract to Spectra
Engineers Ltd. under the package No. WP-02 in the four-lane up gradation
project from Hathazari to Raozan on the Chattogram-Rangamati highway with an
estimated cost of Taka 214.76 crore.
