Nirmal, Babu new president, gen secy of Awami Swechchhasebak League
DHAKA, Nov 16, 2019 (BSS) – Nirmal Ranjan Guha and Afzalur Rahman Babu have been elected president and general secretary of Awami Swechchhasebak League central executive committee.
Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today announced the leadership of the new committee for the next three years at the council session of Awami Swechchhasebak League at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh auditorium here.
AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Organizing Secretaries Ahmed Hossain and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Cultural Affair Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua were present at the council session, among others.
Earlier, Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 3rd national council of Swechchhasebak League, an associate body of the ruling Awami League, at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city this morning.
Council preparatory committee convener Nirmal Ranjan Guha chaired the inaugural session while member-secretary Gazi Mejbaul Hossain Sacchu conducted it.
Besides, Ishaq Miah and Anisur Rahman Naim have been elected president and general secretary of Dhaka north city unit of Swechchhasebak League.
Kamrul Hasan Ripon and Tareque Sayeed have been elected president and general secretary of Swechchhasebak League’s Dhaka south city unit.
The last council of the organisation was held on July 11, 2012.
On July 27 in 1994, Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina founded Awami Swechchhasebak League.
AFM Bahauddin Nasim was the founding president of Swechchhasebak League.
