Bangladesh staring at innings defeat, reduced to 60-4 at lunch

INDORE, Nov 16, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh found them in a position of an
embarrassing innings defeat against India after being reduced to 60-4 at
lunch on the third day of the first Test at Holkar Stadium in Indore on
Saturday.

India after piling up 493-6 declared their first innings overnight after
taking a huge 343 runs lead.

Bangladesh who was bowled out for 150 in its first innings, still needs 283
runs to make India batting for the second time in the match, that looked
completely unlikely.

India’s reason to declare the innings overnight was to exploit the early
morning moisture, which their fast bowler used expertly to raise a prospect
of finishing the match within three days.

Umesh Yadav struck first to dismiss Imrul Kayes, who was out on 6 after
trying to play an expensive drive, that looked utterly wretched.

His fellow opener Shadman Islam also was out on identical 6, when he failed
to use his feet well against an express delivery of Ishant Sharma.

First change bowler Mohammed Shami worsened Bangladesh’s situation by
dismissing Captain Mominul Haque on 7 via leg-before. The umpire though
turned the down the appeal, India’s Captain Virat Kohli reviewed the decision
successfully.

Shami then had Mithun caught by Mayank Agarwal for 18 and left Bangladesh
at 44-4, indicating to wrap up the things quickly.

Mushfiqur Rahim survived when Rohit dropped his catch, which was fourth
time for him in this Test. However, he and Mahmudulllah saw off the session
with luck and pluck.

Mushfiqur was batting on 9 with Mahmudullah on 6 before the first interval
of the day.

Shami claimed 2-8 while Sharma and Yadav scalped one apiece.
