4-day Income Tax Fair begins in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, NOV 15, 2019 (BSS) – A four-day long Income Tax Fair-2019 began
on the premises of deputy tax commissioner’s office of the district town
today with a call to motivate and inspires the citizens for paying taxes.

An inaugural function organized by deputy tax commissioner office, circle
19 was held in the morning around 11 am with Mohammad Masum Billah, joint
commissioner of taxes, Taxes zone, Bogura in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin addressed the function as the chief
guest and police super Towhidul Islam, general secretary of Bangladesh Awami
League, district unit Abu Bakar Siddique, mayor of Gaibandha Municipality
Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon and president of Gaibandha Chamber
of Commerce and Industry Shajada Anwarul Quadir spoke at the function as the
special guests.

Long term taxpayer Abdul Latif Hakkani and maximum taxpayer Ahsan Habib
Razib also addressed the event, among others, while additional assistant tax
commissioner SM Abdus Sattar Mahmud was the moderator.

Speaking on the occasion the speakers in their speeches underscored the
need for paying taxes spontaneously to push forward the country towards
economic development and take the nation ahead.

Earlier, assistant commissioner of taxes here Mohammad Zakir Hossain made a
welcome speech and briefed all about tax related activities of his office
elaborately.

Number of income taxpayers had stood by 8,000 in the district and taxes
of Taka 44 crore had been realized from them last fiscal year, he also said.

Later, DC Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the fair through cutting a red
tape as the chief guest taking other guests.

Earlier, two long term tax payers Abdul Latif Hakkanin and Probir Kumar
Saha and maximum tax payers Saidur Rahman and Shah Ahsan Habib Razib were
given honor for keeping much contribution in this sector.

Income Tax officials will remain present at the fair to provide advice and
suggestions on income tax, TIN certificates and assist the tax payers in
filling out the Income Tax Return forms. Sonali Bank Limited has also set up
booths to help the taxpayers in paying their income taxes on the spot.
Several stalls have been set up in the fair that creates enthusiasm among the
public about the tax payment and return submission.

A large number of income tax officials and employees, chamber and business
community leaders, bankers, industrialists, entrepreneurs, teachers, civil
society members, professionals, and elite of the town including journalists
were present on the occasion.
