BGB seizes 52,000 yaba pills in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR, Nov 14, 2019 (BSS) – Members of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB)
in separate drives have recovered over 52,000 yaba pills worth about Taka
1.10 crore and other motorized vehicles, electronic accessories and rice
worth Taka 7.87 lakh here.

A team of Rezukhal check post of BGB Cox’s Bazar Battalion (BGB-34), on a
tip-off, searched a Cox’s Bazar-bound motor cycle rider and arrested him with
46,000 yaba pills worth Taka 1.38 crore, his motorbike worth Taka 1.5 lakh, a
mobile phone worth Taka 10,000 and Taka 2,000 in cash from Hnila area of the
district on Wednesday, said a BGB press release here today.

The arrestee was identified as Md Laden Khan, 18, son of Md Hashim Shawkat
of Pashchimshikder para under the Teknaf upazila of the district.

On the same day, another team of the BGB-34 halted a suspected Cox’s
Bazar-bound mini truck and seized 20,000 yaba pills worth Taka 60 lakh, 6,100
kilograms of relief rice meant for Rohingyas worth Taka 3.05 lakh and the
mini truck worth Taka 20 lakh from the Kumirer Khamar road area under the
Palangkhali BOP of the battalion, the release said.

The truck driver, however, managed to escape leaving his vehicle, it
added.

Besides, members of Rezukhal check post of BGB Cox’s Bazar Battalion (BGB-
34), on a tip-off, today searched a Cox’s Bazar-bound easy bike rider and
arrested him with 4,000 yaba pills worth Taka 12 lakh and his easy bike worth
Taka 1.1 lakh, the release said.

The arrestee was identified as Md Helal Uddin, 23, son of Md Nurul Islam
of Hnila village under Teknaf upazila of the district.

Necessary measures have taken regarding the seized yaba pills and others
goods.
