Govt working to ensure planned industrialization: Salman

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman said the government is working to ensure planned industrialization across the country.

“Under the initiative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government is establishing 100 Special Economic Zones across the country. It was meant to protect agricultural land as well as to ensure planned industrialization,” he said while speaking at a roundtable discussion at the Washington DC in the USA on Wednesday, said a press release here today.

US-Bangladesh Working Group of the US Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center, hosted the business roundtable on “Future of Investment in Bangladesh”.

Leading Bangladesh delegation at the roundtable, Salman Fazlur Rahman has delivered a comprehensive speech focusing on Bangladesh’s investment potentials.

Bangladesh Ambassador to the US Md Ziauddin, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Md Sirazul Islam also took part in the discussion.

Salman Fazlur Rahman showcased key elements that have contributed to the strengthening of the Bangladesh under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In his speech, he focused on IT and digitization, pharmaceuticals, energy, readymade garments (RMG) and agriculture as the sectors are contributing to the development of Bangladesh.

In the roundtable discussion, the Bangladesh delegation focused their discussion on critical next steps that Bangladesh can and must undertake to substantially progress on its ease of doing business reforms and competitiveness rankings, which includes the Government prioritizing the development of a reliable and online One Stop Service (OSS) centre.

Salman Fazlur Rahman reiterated the commitment of the Bangladesh government in working collaboratively with the private sector to bring innovation, emerging solutions and new opportunities for the people of Bangladesh.

US Chamber of Commerce’s Senior Vice President for South Asia Nisha Biswal, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
