Derailment snaps rail link with north, south
SIRAJGANJ, Nov 14, 2019 (BSS) – Rail communication of Dhaka with the
northern and southern districts remained suspended after intercity train
Rangpur Express derailed in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj this afternoon.
“Seven compartments of the Rangpur-bound train from Dhaka veered off the
track near Ullapara Railway Station around 2 pm,” Railway Secretary Md
Mofazzal Hossain told BSS.
Train communication will resume soon as officials and employees concerned
started rescue operation, he added.
Three compartments caught fire after derailment of the train, said Tutul
Chakraborty, Superintendent of Police (SP).
On information, members of the fire service rushed to the spot and brought
the blaze under control with the help of local people.
No casualty was reported till filling this report.
