INDORE, Nov 13 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque said that they are not scared by the threat the mighty India posed, rather they are seeing it as an opportunity of showcasing their potential against the No.1 ranked team.
The Tigers will begin their two-match Test series campaign by taking on the host in the series opener in Indore on Thursday that will also mark their introduction in the ICC Test Championship.
”It will be a good challenge and opportunity for everyone. I always think like that. I don’t think it will be a threat. We have to overcome the challenge and enjoy the opportunity,” Mominul Haque said here in pre-match conference on Wednesday.
”I think the only positive thing [about this Test series] is that it is an opportunity,” when his attention was drawn regarding the vast difference between the two sides.
”When you are playing with the number one side of the world who are very strong in all the three departments that against them if you do well it will create opportunity for you. Actually we don’t have that much pressure or expectation that we have to win. We will try to play our best cricket,” he said.
Recently India defeated South Africa by clean margin in the three-match Test series that included innings defeat in the last two games largely due to the fact their pace bowlers exploited the home condition to the fullest but according to Mominul they are not too concerned about it as they are ready to face both spin and pace of India.
”I always try to think about present, not about past or future,” said Mominul.
”India is such a team that they can give you challenge in deferent way to different opponent. You can’t say they only challenged South Africa with spin bowling only. May be they will challenge us with spin attack,” he remarked.
”We are ready to face both spin and pace attack challenge from India. Definitely it will be a tough challenge for us. But we are preparing to face it,” he said adding that they are well prepared despite there was not match practice.
Despite not any preparation match ahead of the Test series, which usually an overseas team gets, Mominul said they have no lack of preparation since they have been in continuous cricket back in country.
”I don’t think there is any lack of preparation. If you look in to our squad then you will see eight of the players have played quite a few four-day games recently. I have played eight to ten four-day games in last five-six months. Every player was among matches recently so I don’t think it will be a big problem,” he concluded.
