Dhaka-Ctg, Ctg-Sylhet train services resume

DHAKA, Nov 12, 2019 (BSS)-Rail services on the Dhaka-Chattogram and Chattogram-Sylhet routes have been restored eight hours after a collision between two trains in Brahmanbaria’s Kasba.

Railways authorities removed the damaged coaches from the spot and repaired the main line. Rail services resumed at 10.45am, said an official of the railways ministry.

At least 16 people were killed and 50 others suffered injuries when Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet and Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita from Chattogram collided at Mondobagh Railway Station in the early hours of today.

The fatal accident snapped Dhaka’s rail links with Chattogram and Sylhet.

Two relief trains from Laksam and Akhaura cleared the line after removing the damaged coaches.
