Girls must read more books to unearth potentials: Mohibul

DHAKA, Nov 12, 2019 (BSS) – Putting emphasis on ensuring equal rights of
boys and girls in every sector, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan
Chowdhury urged girl child to read more books and realize their potentials so
that they can make themselves as the worthy citizens of the country.

“Today, we are celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child. I do
agree with the theme -‘Girl Force: Unscripted and Unstoppable’ and welcome
all to this celebration. I think this is our responsibility to remove gender
barriers,” he said while addressing as the chief guest at a programme,
marking the International Girl Child Day 2019.

Room to Read, a non-government organisation working to increase literacy
and girls’ education rate, organised the event at Bangladesh Shishu Academy
auditorium here today.

Mentioning that women are presented in wrong way, he said companies prefer
to present women in glamorous way, they prefer to present air hostess in
their advertisement, but people know that female folks are also performing
their duties as pilots.

“We should not limit girls’ thinking. Woman can do all the things despite a
widespread notion that physical strength is a deciding factor. Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina is the example for women and girls when it comes to leadership
and more,” he added.

Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor
Dr. Syed Md. Golam Faruk and Chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Lucky Enam
spoke at the event as the special guests.

welcome speech.

The first woman, who travelled to 135 countries across the world with flag
of Bangladesh, Nazmun Nahar and actor Bannaya Mirza, among others, were
present on the occasion.

Every year, the International Day of the Girl Child is observed on October
