Nepal, Maldives post win in Bangamata Volleyball

DHAKA, Nov 11, 2019 (BSS) – Nepal and the Maldives won their respective matches of the 1st Bangamata Asian Senior Women’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship held today (Monday) at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.

In the day’s first match, Nepal recorded their second successive victory as they beat Kyrgyzstan by 3-0 set. Nepal won the first set by 25-15 points and maintained their domination by winning the second set by 25-19 points. Nepal won the third set by 25-20 points.

Garkusina Alin of Kyrgyzstan was named the player of the match for her impressive performance in the match.

In the day’s second match, The Maldives continued their winning streak as they defeated Afghanistan also by 3-0 set. The Maldives won the first set by 25-06 points and in the second set they won by 25-7 points. The Maldives finished the match in style with a 25-08 point victory in the second set. Kulami Fatema of Afghanistan was named the player of the match for his brilliant performance.

Apart from host Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, The Maldives and Kyrgyzstan are taking part in the six-day meet, organized by Bangladesh Volleyball Federation BVF.

The top two teams will lock horn in the final scheduled to be held on November 14 at 3 pm following the third-place deciding encounter at 1 pm.
