Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi observed amid religious fervor
DHAKA, Nov 10, 2019 (BSS) – The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was observed across the country today with due reverence and religious fervor.
Tens of thousands of Muslims with banners of different spiritual and social organizations like the Maizbhandar Darbar and other spiritual hubs joined colourful street marches in the capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country chanting praising the prophet for his role for the mankind.
On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages greeting the countrymen and Muslims across the globe coinciding with the occasion and sought eternal blessing for the people’s welfare alongside peace and harmony in the country and elsewhere in the world.
The day is a public holiday.
Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and private TV channels aired special programmes while newspapers published special articles highlighting the significance of the day.
Different social, cultural, religious, spiritual and political organisations and different state-run organizations, including the Islamic Foundation, chalked up elaborate programmes to mark the day.
Islamic Foundation (IF) has taken a fortnight programme at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the city on the occasion of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
The programmes include religious sermons, seminars, exhibition of Islamic calligraphy and posters based on the life of the Prophet (PBUH), Islamic cultural competitions, publication of a special souvenir and supplementary in daily newspapers and recitation of the holy Quran and poems on him.
A month-long Islamic book fair is being organized on the mosque premises to mark the birth and death anniversary of the last and final Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Religious Affairs Secretary Md Anisur Rahman inaugurated the IF’s 15-day programmes at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque as the chief guest on Saturday.
Marking the day, a discussion, milad and doa mahfil was held after Zuhr prayers at the Dhaka University (DU) central mosque in the city. DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman and pro-VC (administration) Professor Dr Mohammad Samad joined the programme, among others.
Various organisations at upazila level also held discussions, milad and doa mahfil highlighting the life of the Prophet.
Tight security arrangements were taken across the country to ensure a peaceful celebration of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
