DHAKA, Nov 10, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication
Secretary and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said those who cut
tendons of the hands and legs of human beings in the name of Islam, a
religion of peace, are enemies of the religion.

“Those who carry out militant activities in the name of Islam are actually
enemies of Islam. Due to their activities, people who don’t like Islam and
Muslims are getting opportunities to create adverse situation (for the
religion),” he said.

The information minister was addressing a discussion on Eid-e-Miladunnabi
as the chief guest at Kazi Bashir Auditorium in city’s Gulistan area.

Former state minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku addressed the
discussion, among others, organized by Ashekane Gausia Rahmania Moinia
Sahidia Maizbhandaria with Syed Sahid Uddin Ahmad in the chair.

Islam was not established by war in this sub-continent but this religion
was established through Peer-Aulias (spiritual leaders) for its peaceful
spirit.

Hasan said, adding that a section of people don’t feel hesitation in
spreading adverse comments about the Peer-Aulias among the Muslim community.

Noting that Islam does not support militancy, the information minister
said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina protested the perception regarding
involvement of Islam with militancy in the international arena.

“Please, don’t utter Islamic militancy. Cause, Islam does not support
militancy. You can say militancy, not Islamic militancy,” he said.

Underscoring the need for unity of Muslim Ummah, the AL leader said if
Muslims remain united and friendship is strengthened among them, the Jews
could not kill children in Palestine, Myanmar could not force the Rohingya
Muslims to leave their homeland and Muslims would not have been persecuted
across the world.

Urging all to remain alert so that none can destroy the country’s communal
harmony, Hasan prayed to Almighty Allah for stronger unity and solidarity of
the Muslim ummah.
