Badal laid to rest with state honour

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 9, 2019 (BSS) – Mainuddin Khan Badal, three times elected member of parliament from Boalkhali constituency and the executive president of a faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), was buried tonight with full state honour after 5th Namaz-e-Janaza held at his Saruatali village under Boalkhali upazila of the district.

The veteran JSD leader was laid to eternal rest at their family graveyard at Saroatali village under Boalkhali upazila beside the graves of his parents at 9.30pm.

Hundreds of people irrespective of political affiliation, leaders of different professional, socio-cultural bodies attended his 5th namaz-e-janaza.

Most of the areas of Boalkhali upazila sadar and his native village Saroatali are almost covered with the banners of condolences and black flags were hoisted in roads, highways, thoroughfares, lanes and by lanes to mourn the death of such a devoted politician.

Earlier, the first Namaz-e-Janaza of Mainuddin Khan Badal was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises in Dhaka this morning; second one at Jamiatul Flah Maidan in Chattogram after Magrib prayers.

His 3rd Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Sirajul Islam Chowdhury Degree College Maidan and 4th and 5th were held at Nur Mohammad Chowdhury high school premises and his Saroatali native village of Boalkhali upazila respectively tonight.

Political leaders including AL Presidium Member Engineer Mosharrf Hossain, MP, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed, Whip Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury, ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, MP, Abu Reza Mohammad Nezam Uddin Nodvi, MP, Mahfuzur Rahman Mita, MP, Chattogram south district AL President Moslem Uddin Ahmed, former chairman of Chattogram Development Authority Abdus Salam, Chattogram Jilla Parisad Chairman MA Salam, divisional commissioner of Chattogram Abdul Mannan, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Ilias Hossain, Chattogram South district AL General Secretary Mofizur Rahman, officials of Chattogram district administration, local elites, Chattogram Metropolitan and district police, among others, paid their respective tributes to the veteran parliamentarian by placing wreaths at his coffin and participated the janaza.

Mainuddin Khan Badal, one of the organizers of Liberation war, passed away at a hospital in India on Thursday morning at the age of 67.
