Ctg railway evicts 4100 establishments, recovers 80 acres of land

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 7, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh Railway (BR) in month long
special drive evicted over 4,100 unauthorized establishments built in CRB,
Pahartali, Ambagan, Halishahor area and railway colony areas in the city.

BR, East zone in their 33-day eviction drives against the illegal
possession of railway land in the port city also recovered about 80 acres of
land worth about Tk 1,000 crores.

Mahbub Karim, divisional state officer of Bngladesh railway eastern zone
said the eviction campaign was launched from October 3.

“We have evicted over 4100 makeshift shops, establishments and houses from
CRB, Pahartali, Ambagan, Halishahor area and railway colony areas during the
month long drive following the directives of BR authority,” Mahbub Karim,
said adding that drives will continue to recover more railway lands in the
port city.

During the eviction drives, 258 unauthorized establishments were evicted
from Sadarghat area, 667 from Amtala, 30 from Segun baghan, 1,222 from CRB,
the sources added.

On the other hand, 50 acres of railway land was recovered from Railway
training academy areas in Halishahar and installations were demolished within
the premises, he added.
