Bourses sustain gaining steak

DHAKA, Nov 07, 2019 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today sustained the gaining streak for the third consecutive sessions as the enthusiastic investors continued their buying spree based on the latest quarterly earnings declarations.

The market started the session with cheerful mood and continued till the closure, but observed some volatility in the middle of the session amid profit booking sell pressure.

Positive momentum was observed in large-cap sectors, especially in financial institutions, telecom, bank, pharma and life insurance sectors stocks.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4771.91 points on Thursday with a gain of 17.21 points or 0.36 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES also went up by 3.71 points and 0.24 points to settle at 1657.91 points and 1089.57 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 112,547 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 128.91 million securities.

Gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 350 issues traded, 164 securities gained price while 115 declined and 51 remained unchanged.

Most of the sectors witnessed better performance today. Among the major sectors based on market capitalization – financial institutions (4.0%), telecom (0.3%), bank (0.5%), pharma (0.3%) and life insurance (4.5%) sectors achieved price appreciation while especially in fuel & power (-0.4%) and food (-0.2%) sectors witnessed correction, according to a market operator, International Leasing Securities.

It added the investors’ activity was mostly centered on pharma (15.2%), engineering (15.2%) and bank (12.1%) sectors.

The top 10 gainers were ICB, Sonarbangla Insurance, Miracle Industries, Rupali Life, Regent Tex, National Life Insurance, Shurwid Industries, National Tubes, Confidence Cement and KDS Accessories.

National Tubes topped the turnover chart followed by Sonarbangla Insurance, Fortune Shoes, BSCCL, Silva Pharma, Renata, Square Pharma, Standard Ceramics, Shurwid Industries and Wata Chemicals.

The top 10 losers were Familytex, Nurani Dying, United Air, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning, Samata Leather, CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund, Nahee Aluminum, Shinepukur Ceramics, Apolo Ispat and Dacca Dying.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, today Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed in green maintaining the upbeat of the previous day.

CSCX and CASPI also went up by 21.82 points and 37.79 points to stand at 8798.61 points and 14483.27 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 10,735,909 shares and mutual fund of 239 companies were traded, of which 127 issues advanced while 73 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged.
