RAJKOT, Nov 6, 2019 (BSS) – As India will take on Bangladesh in second T20 on Thursday at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Rohit Sharma will touch the milestone of playing 100th match in this format as the only second cricket after Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik.

The India captain also needs 72 runs to surpass Suresh Raina with 8392 runs and become second highest run getter for India in T20s after Virat Kohli 8556.

Rohit has already become the highest run-getter in T20 International with 2452, surpassing Kohli’s 2450 during the course of his 9 runs in the first match against Bangladesh.

And the captain knows how India needs him to stand talk as they are eying to level the series following their seven-wicket loss to a resurgent Bangladesh in the first match in Delhi.

But Rohit said he takes pride in playing for country, no matter what the format is and what number of matches he is playing.

“It is very simple-I am playing for India. I am playing for my country and that is the biggest motivation ever,” he said on the eve of his 100th T20 match.

“It does not matter which format you are playing, at the end of the day it is all about going out there and doing your best. Formats will keep changing, right now I am playing T20, in a few weeks’ time I will be playing Test cricket.

Formats are not so much important, what is important is that I am representing my country and I have to go out there and do my best.”

“That is what keeps me going, knowing that I am one of 1.5 billion people who has the opportunity to represent the country. That is what will keep me going for the rest of my career.”
