Former BSEC chairman jailed in graft case

DHAKA, Nov 04, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced former acting chairman and director of Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation (BSEC) Sultan Ahmed Shikder to an eight-year imprisonment in a graft case.

Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 passed the order, sentencing him a six-year imprisonment under one section and a two-year under another section of ACC act.

The court also fined him Taka four lakh in the case. The convict is yet to be arrested.

Then assistant director of ACC Niru Shamsun Nahar on November 18, 2008, filed the case against Shikder for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 3.07 crore and giving false statement regarding wealth of Taka 1.55 crore.

The anti-graft body on April 22, 2009, filed charge sheet in the case and the court on April 6, 2010, framed charges against the accused.
