Bangladesh role model of development: Humayun

DHAKA, Nov 4, 2019 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud
Humayun today said Bangladesh is moving forward under the prudent policy and
dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and consequently it has
become a role model of development in the world.

“Bangladesh has become a role model of development among the many
countries. Under the prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,
Bangladesh has achieved the recognition of the lower-middle income country,”
he said.

The minister said this while speaking at the ’18th Session of the
General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization
(UNIDO)’ at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dabhi, said a press release
here.

Energy and Industry Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Engineer
Suhil Al Mazrouei presided over the inaugural session of the conference while
Director General of the UNIDO Li Young spoke on the occasion.

Humayun said the industrial sector of Bangladesh is expanding fast for
developing private sector, investment friendly policies, short, medium and
long term plans, entrepreneurs friendly import, export and incentives.

The government is establishing planed industrial cities, export
processing zones (EPZs), economic zones (EZs) and hi-tech parks for
attracting more investment in the country.

“A total of eight EPZs are running in the country. The government is
establishing 100 EZs across the country for inclusive industrialization,” he
added.

For this, he said, investment from home and abroad in the country are
increasing.

Humayun said the least developed countries (LDCs) can achieve the
sustainable development goals (SDGs) through inclusive industrialization.
