Continuous media support sought for maintaining law and order

RANGPUR, Nov 4, 2019 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP)
Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud today sought continuous support of the media
to maintain law and order situation as well as make the society free from
drug abuse.

Law enforcement agencies would take prompt action against wrongdoers as
media is unearthing information regarding irregularities, corruption and
other offenses, he told a view exchange meeting here.

A view-exchange meeting was organised by RpMP, with local journalists at
its conference room, to share its performances in maintaining law and order,
exhibit and asses various public welfare activities during the last one year.

Member-journalists of Rangpur Press Club and Rangpur Reporters’ Club and
high officials of RpMP attended the event.

Alim discussed activities conducted by RpMP in controlling crimes, traffic
management and intelligence surveillance for collecting advance information
to check crimes and admirable successes in preventing crimes during the
period in the metropolis.

The journalists lauded the activities and successes achieved by RpMP in
maintaining law and order, checking and preventing crimes and conducting
public welfare activities on humanitarian grounds in the city.

They raised some issues like trafficking and trading of drugs and eve-
teasing at particular points of the metropolis and forwarded suggestions to
make RpMP more effective and public-friendly.

The RpMP Chief thanked the participating journalists for their suggestions
and put importance on taking the society ahead utilising the historical
brotherhood and friendly relation prevailing among police and journalists for
centuries.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) of RpMP Mohidul Islam, Deputy
Police Commissioner (Crime) Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan, Additional Deputy Police
Commissioner (Police Super) of City Special Branch Shamima Pervin, Additional
Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) Shahidullah Kawsar, among police
officials, were present.
