Govt. embarks on huge projects for women empowerment –Rabbi

GAIBANDHA, NOV 04, 2019 (BSS) – Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah today said present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina adopted and implemented many welfare projects for the women aimed at empowering them and changing their socio-economic conditions.

He said the rights of women should be established , their works including domestic one must be evaluated and recognized through empowering them in the family and society.

The Deputy Speaker said this while inauguratinga- day long food fair titled ‘Men in Different Images: Cooking Festival’ at Fulchhari upazila parishad premises as chief guest .

SKS Foundation, a non-government organization, arranged the fair under Promoting Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment and Rights (POWER) project supported by Foreign Affairs Ministry of Netherlands in technical cooperation with Action Aid Bangladesh.

Presided over by coordinator, field operation, and development programme of SKS Foundation Suruj Ali Sarker , the inaugural function was addressed among others by Civil Surgeon Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, Upazila Chairman GM Selim Parvez, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Raihan Dolon and project coordinator Israt Jahan Biju .

The Deputy Speaker said there is a significant role of the women to march the nation ahead in the developed world so an emphasis should be given on value of their labour to advance the country.

“ Women folk of the upazila had become empowered more than any previous time with the introduction of different welfare oriented projects , the Deputy Speaker added. .

A total of 18 stalls have been set up with different indigenous food menus cooked by the persons without the help of their wives.

A large number of people including upazila level officials, political leaders, public representatives, NGO activists, local elite women leaders and journalists were present on the occasion.
