Aman harvesting begins in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Nov 3, 2019 (BSS) – Farmers in the district started
harvesting their Aman paddy with a hope of bumper production.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Panchagarh office sources
said 81,000 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation this
season with a production target of 3,22 ,000 tonnes of food grains.

The DAE office said farmers are expecting good yield of Aman paddy due
to favorable weather condition and availability of agri-inputs supported by
the government initiatives.

Field level officials of DAE said they have imparted trainings on modern
technology to the farmers to boost bumper production.

Farmer Sunil Kumar of sadar upazila said he cultivated Aman paddy on
three bighas of land and he is expecting good production this year.

Deputy Director of DAE Md Abu Hanif said the farmers will get fair prize
of Aman paddy as the government has fixed Taka 26 per kilogram of Aman paddy.
