Mohammedan’s Lokman placed on remand afresh

DHAKA, Nov 3, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today placed Mohammedan Sporting
Club director in-charge M Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan on a seven-day fresh remand
in a case lodged for allegedly amassing illegal wealth.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Qayesh passed the order,
allowing a plea of the concerned investigation officer.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on October 27 filed the case
against Lokman, also a director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, for acquiring
illegal wealth of Taka 4.34 crore. ACC Assistant Director Saiful Islam filed
the case.

Team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 arrested Lokman from his Tejgaon
Monipuripara home on the night of September 25, for running casino by renting
a part of his club. RAB also recovered four bottles of foreign liquor from
his home.

The elite crime busting agency filed a case against him with Tejgaon
Police Station under narcotics control act and handed him over to the police
at 6 pm on September 26.

RAB sources said Lokman in the primary interrogation confessed earning
crores from the casino in Mohammedan club and deposited the money in two
Australian bank accounts.
