Workers Party supports ongoing anti-graft drive: Menon

DHAKA, Nov 2, 2019 (BSS) – Workers Party of Bangladesh (WPB) President Rashed Khan Menon today said his party would always remain with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ongoing anti-graft drive across the country.

“Workers Party is always by the side of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ongoing drive against corruption,” he said while opening the 10th Congress of WPB at Engineers’ Institution, Bangladesh.

Menon, also former minister of the Awami League-led grand alliance government, said WPB still needs unity with Awami League (AL) to build Bangladesh in line with the spirit of the Liberation War.

Referring to significance of his party’s joining to AL-led alliance, he said a political alliance was formed with AL under the special circumstance as fanaticism, militancy and communal forces were on the rise during the then BNP-Jamaat regime.

“Subsequently, the AL-led 14-party combine achieved a landslide victory in the 2008 general polls. It is still needed to continue the alliance because the reality of its formation has not yet ended,” Menon added.

The WPB chief said the incumbent government achieved tremendous development in all sectors and this message will have to disseminate to the most of the people.

WPB General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, Politburo member Anisur Rahman Mollik, Noor Ahmed Bakul, Sushanta Das, Hajera Sultana and Mahmudul Hasan Manik, among others, also spoke there.
