DHAKA, Nov 2, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh national football team leave for Oman tomorrow (Sunday) night to play their away match against host Oman for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar Qualifiers round-2 scheduled to be held on November 14.

In a pre departure press conference held on Saturday at conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation Bhaban, the Bangladesh team’s manager Satyajit Das Rupu, team coach Masud Parvez Kaiser and goal keeper Ashraful Islam Rana expressed their firm optimism to give a good fight against Oman following their spirited performance against Qatar in home and India in Kolkata.

BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag was also present at the press conference.

Bangladesh, who are placed the bottom-ranked of the table of Group E, have one point with a draw from three matches while Oman have six points with two wins from three outings.

The Asian Champions Qatar dominated the table with six points playing four matches.

The Bangladesh team is expected to return home on November 15.

In the home and away basis Group E matches, Bangladesh will play their next match against Afghanistan on March 26, 2020 in Bangladesh, Qatar on March 31 in Qatar, India on June 4 in Bangladesh and Oman on June 9 in Bangladesh.

Earlier, Bangladesh suffered a fighting 2-0 goal defeat against Qatar at home, lost their first match of the qualifying campaign by 1-0 goal against Afghanistan in September.

Bangladesh played out to a fighting 1-1 goal draw with India held last month in Kolkata. At the end of round-2, the top sides from all eight groups, including the four best runners-up, will proceed to the third round of the World Cup Qualifiers. These 12 teams will also gain automatic qualification for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
