BNP doing politics over Khaleda’s illness: Quader

NARAYANGANJ, Nov 02, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said BNP is doing politics over the illness of the party’s chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

“The picture of Khaleda Zia’s health condition portrayed by her party leaders does not match with the observations of the physicians of the medical board,” he told reporters while visiting the BRTA activities to enforce the Road Transport Act in Signboard area in Narayanganj.

Quader said the physicians of the medical board stated that Khaleda Zia’s physical condition is well and she is getting proper treatment. Physicians chosen by Khaleda are also in the board, he added.

The minister said the BNP chairperson’s condition is not so bad that she should be sent aboard.

Replying to a question, the AL general secretary said the list of corrupts, extortionists, drug peddlers and land grabbers has been made at district and grassroots and they would be brought under justice in phases.

About the countywide councils of different organizational units of the party and its associate bodies, Quader said directives have been given to concerned leaders and workers at grassroots so that no wrongdoers can get a place in the fresh committees of the party and associate bodies.

Replying to another question, the minister said the enforcement of Road Transport Act will bring discipline on roads and highways and road accidents will also reduce.

Awareness-raising camping is being carried out across the country for a week to make the act effective, he said.

Quader said directives have been given to concerned authorities not to file cases any vehicles during the period of the campaign.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman Dr Md Kamrul Ahsan, Additional Inspector General of Highway Police Barrister Mahbubur Rahman, Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Harun-or-Rashid and BRTA high officials were present on the occasion.
