1,000 students say ‘no’ to drug abuse, militancy

RANGPUR, Nov 01, 2019 (BSS) – Over 1,000 male and female students of
different educational institutions have showed red cards to drug, terrorism
and militancy at a rally held at Pirganj municipal town here.

Pirganj police station organised the rally against drug, terrorism and
militancy on Pirganj Shah Abdur Rouf Government College ground.

Teachers and students of different educational institutions, guardians,
civil society members, leaders of different socio-cultural and religious
organisations, professionals and local elite participated in the rally.

The rally was arranged aiming at creating social awareness about the severe
consequences of drug abuse and drug addiction to save the youths from ruining
their future and rooting out terrorism and militancy from the society.

Superintendent of Police of Rangpur Biplob Kumar Sarker attended the rally
as the chief guest with Principal of Pirganj Shah Abdur Rouf Government
College Rashedunnabi Chowdhury in the chair.

Pirganj upazila Chairman Nur Mohammad Mandal, its Vice-chairman Shafiur
Rahman Mandal Milon, Acting President of Pirganj upazila Awami League (AL)
Azizur Rahman Ranga, Upazila Nirbahi Officer TMA Momin, Officer-in-Charge of
Pirganj Thana Saresh Chandra, General Secretary of Pirganj Press Club ATM
Mazharul Alam Milon, among others, addressed the rally.

The chief guest said the young generations and the society must be saved
from the wrath of drug abuse that gradually generates fearful criminals
destroying families and creating social threats.

He put special emphasis on sensitizing the young generations about the
disastrous consequences of generation-killer drug abuse, terrorism and
militancy to maintain the current pace of advancement in building a developed
Bangladesh by 2041.

Other speakers narrated various grievous impacts of drug abuse, terrorism
and militancy and put importance on creating public awareness against drug
for building a society free from these social curses.

They said that the young generations must be saved from the fury of drug
abuse along with rooting out of terrorism and militancy for continuation of
smooth development in building a happy and prosperous country.
