Harvesting of Aman paddy begins in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Nov 1, 2019 (BSS) – Harvesting of early variety Aman paddy has
begun in the district with much enthusiasm.

The crop is now becoming ready for harvesting and the growing late variety
Aman plants are also in bloom predicting an excellent production of the cash
crop, official said here.

Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Narsingdi
Shovan Kumar Dhar said so far 10 to 15 percent Aman paddy has already
harvested in the six upazilas of the district with the output ranging between
4 and 4.50 tonnes per hectare.

Farmers are getting good production of Aman this season as crop has been
growing excellent under the favorable climate condition everywhere in the
district.

DAE sources said, farmers of the district have cultivated 41,250 hectares
of land including aromatic fine rice (Maloti shail,Kaliajira and Tulshimala).

The Deputy Director hope that if there is no climate hazard in the
district in the current month of November, over 1,00000 (One Lakh) tonnes of
Aman rice will be produce in the district.

He said BADC had supplied quality seeds to the farmers at fair prices,
different commercial banks including Bangladesh Krishi bank disbursed easy
term of loan to the farmers. In addition DAE has been providing training
among the farmers for adopting modern technologies in paddy cultivation.
