Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organised the seminar on ‘Human Empowerment and Attaining Sustainable Development Goals in Bangladesh: The Cases of Women and Marginal Community’ by the initiative of the Department of Sociology under the Faculty of Arts and Social Science at Bijoy Auditorium on the university campus.

BUP Vice-Chancellor Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUP Prof Dr M Abul Kashem Mozumder and Prof Dr Monirul Islam Khan of the Department of Sociology at Dhaka University, among others, spoke at the seminar, an ISPR press release said.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Chaudhury said empowerment of women and development of marginal people are two essential conditions for meeting the SDGs.

Ensuring the issues is a huge challenge along with controlling population growth, poverty alleviation, education for all, medical care for developing countries like Bangladesh, she said.
