National Youth Day to be observed across country tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 31, 2019 (BSS) – The National Youth Day will be observed tomorrow (Friday) across the country in a befitting manner.

This year’s the theme of the day is “Dokkho Jubo Goreche Desh, Bangabandhur Bangladesh” (skilled youths for building the country, Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh).

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP disclosed the details regarding the programs of the Youth Day at a press conference held today (Thursday) at his secretariat room.

To mark the day the Ministry of Youth and Sports will arrange a youth rally tomorrow (Friday) at Sheikh Russell Roller Skating Complex premise at 8 am aimed at creating awareness among the youths.

A youth fair also will be arranged at Shilpakala Academy from November 2-8. The same scheduled will be implemented at all districts and upazilla level across the country.

The government has set a target to turn Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041, the State Minister said by adding that steps should be taken to link the youth forces to all development activities along with providing them proper training from now.

Meanwhile, 22 youths among the trained youth male and female and other five youth organizers will be awarded with ‘National Youth Award’ for their outstanding contribution to create self-employment project, the State Minister added.

The Youth Development Department has imparted training to 27 lakh 18 thousand 644 youths on different trades during the tenure of the present government.

Of them, 6 lakh 82 thousand 40 youths have been made economically solvent through self employment, the state minister said adding the national services will be expanded to all districts and upazilas in phases.

So far, 2,28,737 youths of 128 upazilas under 37 districts were imparted training and 2,26,402 were provided with temporary employment, the State Minister said.

Youth and Sports Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Farque Ahmed, Director General of department of Youth Development and high officials of Youth and Sports Ministry were present in the press conference.
