Comprehensive efforts stressed to prevent drug trafficking

RANGPUR, Oct 31, 2019 (BSS) – High officials at a seminar have underscored
the need for engaging comprehensive efforts to prevent drug trafficking and
drug abuse through creating employments for people living in bordering areas.

They expressed the view at the seminar on ‘Socio-economic development
through employment and rehabilitation in border areas to prevent drug
trafficking and abuse” held at the North-West Regional Headquarters of Border
Guard Bangladesh (BGB) here on Wednesday afternoon.

BGB Regional Commander of North-West Region Brigadier General Benazir
Ahmed presided over the seminar organised by the North-West Regional
Headquarters of BGB.

High officials of BGB, divisional and district level officials of the
civil and police administrations, teachers and students of different
educational institutions participated in the seminar.

Rangpur Sector Commander of BGB Colonel Abu Zahid Siddique presented
keynote essay narrating source of drug, its spread and its detrimental impact
on the society and creating employment opportunities in the border areas.

Additional Director of the Narcotics Control Directorate Md. Masood
Hossain, Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Police Devdas
Bhattacharya, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan and Commander Officer of the
51 BGB Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Abu Isahaque took part on
subject-based discussions.

Vice-chancellor of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University
Professor Dr. Muhammad Abul Kashem evaluated the seminar and forwarded
opinions on preventing smuggling of drug and its abuse to save the young
generations.
