Int’l Conference on Business, Economics begins at DU

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2019 (BSS) – With the theme “Spectrum of opportunities
through innovation and technology”, a two-day International Conference on
“Business and Economics” has begun today at Dhaka University (DU).

Faculty of Business Studies of DU organised the conference at the Nabab
Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the
conference, said a university press release.

Rector of Cyprus Social Sciences University Prof Dr Mustafa Tumer and Prof
Dr Partha S Ghosh of Tufts University, USA addressed the conference. DU
Business Studies Faculty Dean Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam presided over the
inaugural function.

Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Prof. Dr. Atiur Rahman delivered the
key-note speech.

While addressing the programme, DU VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need
for proper utilisation of human resources to make Bangladesh a developed
country.

Terming the business, innovation and technology as an integral part of
development, the VC said, “We have to make our population more dynamic and
skilled with technology and innovation. Bangladesh has made tremendous
progress in various sectors including business, economy, health, education,
poverty reduction as well as women empowerment.”

He emphasised on undertaking joint collaborative academic and research
programmes on business and economy among the University of Dhaka and other
renowned universities in the world.

Academicians and researchers from 14 countries including Bangladesh, the
USA, the UK, Australia, Japan, Turkey, Cyprus, Sweden, India, Sri Lanka,
Maldives, Nigeria and UAE are participating in the conference.

A total of fifteen parallel sessions will take place in two-day
international conference while more than fifty research papers will be
presented.
