JS body discusses Rohingya accommodation project in Bhasan Char

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2019 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Defence today discussed the overall progress of the accommodation project taken to provide housing facilities to Rohingyas at Bhasan Char, Noakhali.

The parliamentary watchdog at its fifth meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) informed that the project was undertaken to build houses for the forcibly displaced citizens of Myanmar, said a press release.

The meeting also informed that the project has been completed, said the release, adding that the housing project is ready for the repatriation of the Rohingya people.

Chairman of the committee Mohammad Subid Ali Bhuiyan chaired the meeting attended, among others, by Committee members Md Motahar Hossain, Md Nasir Uddin, Md Mohibur Rahman and Nahid Ijahar Khan.

Secretary of the ministry, senior officials of the Bangladesh Navy, Armed Forces, Air Forces, Defence Ministry and JS secretariat were also present in the meeting.
