DHAKA, Oct 28, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP is indulged in ‘ill politics’ over the illness of its chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“In fact, they (BNP leaders) want to make the illness of Khaleda an issue,” he told reporters at International Mother Language Institute here after a meeting of the media, publicity and documentation subcommittee and the film and documentary formed marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Hasan, also Awami League publicity and publication secretary, said the illness of Khaleda Zia is an old affair, but BNP is doing politics over her health condition.
“BNP leaders never think of the welfare of the country’s people. They only talk about the health condition of Khaleda Zia,” he added.
About the preparedness of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary celebration, the information minister said all-out preparation has been taken to celebrate his birth centenary, while a one-year elaborate programme has been taken in this regard to attract the international media.
Bangladesh and India will jointly produce a film on the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan said a three-day ABU Radio Asia Conference and Radio Song Festival will begin at Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka tomorrow.
The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and Bangladesh Betar will jointly arrange the event, he said.
Chaired by Information Minister and convener of the media, publicity and documentation subcommittee Dr Hasan Mahmud, the meeting was attended, among others, by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, Information Secretary Abdul Malek, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad, president of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary celebration national implementation committee Prof Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, its chief coordinator Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, actor Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooque), MP, BFUJ former president Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Jatiya Press Club president Saiful Alam, its general secretary Farida Yasmin, Amader Notun Shomoy editor Nayeemul Islam Khan, Ekushey Television CEO Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, BFUJ general secretary Shaban Mahmud and PM’s deputy press secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan.
