Sadhan for boycotting food adulterers

DHAKA, Oct 27, 2019 (BSS) – As the government has adhered to a strong position against the unscrupulous traders, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today urged the consumers to socially boycott those involved in food adulteration.

“The government has taken measures to create awareness among the consumers so that the dishonest sellers and food adulterers could not deceive them… Be conscious, boycott them socially”, Sadhan said.

He made the remarks while attending a seminar on ‘Good Governance to ensure food safety and protection of consumer rights in Bangladesh’ arranged by the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) in Sonargaon hotel here.

The government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to ensuring food safety to achieve vision 2021, he commented.

Referring to benefit-deriving monitoring activities and anti-adulteration drives of the government he said, “The government is working relentlessly to protect the consumer rights…Food adulterers must face strict punishment”, the minister added.

He urged the corporate bodies, mass media, educational institutes and the citizens to jointly stand against food adulteration to ensure food safety.

The programme was presided over by the CAB chairman Golam Rahman.

Bangladesh Safe Food Authority Sarowar Jahan, founder and director general of DNCRP Abul Hossain Mia and advisor of DFAID Mohammad Yusuf were also present, among others, in the seminar.
