Bourses edge down

DHAKA, Oct 27 (2019) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), edged down today after two days of buoyancy amid day-long selling frenzy.

The optimistic investors started the session in the upward trend, but the shaky investors went for selling of shares to book some quick gain.

Issues from most of the large-cap sectors experienced selling pressure, especially telecom, engineering, fuel & power and bank sectors which led the bourse to close in 19 points lower.

The broad index, DSEX closed in red at 4752.64 points on Sunday with a loss of 19.35 points or 0.40 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 also declined by 6.73 points while the Shariah index, DSES decreased by 5.53 points to stand at 1668.36 points and 1090.85 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 91,312 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 83.99 million securities.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 350 issues traded, 132 securities gained price while 176 declined and 42 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Al-haj Tex, Deshbandhu Polymer, CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund, ML Dying, Sonargangla Insurance, Libra Infusion, Sandhani Insurance, Beacon Pharma, Uttara Finance and Paramount Textile.

Sonarbangla Insurance topped the turnover chart followed by National Tubes, SK Trims, Square Pharma, Beacon Pharma, United Power, Standard Ceramics, Silco Pharma, Premier Bank and Monno Ceramics.

The top 10 losers were Anlima yarn, Safco Spinning, Emerald Oil, Ifad Autos, Bengal Windsor, K&Q, United Insurance, MI Cement, Golden Harvest and Northern Jute.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed in red from the winning streak of previous days.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 42.67 points and 69.82 points to stand at 8789.83 points and 14461.09 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 5,206,383 shares and mutual fund of 236 companies were traded, of which, 76 issues advanced while 127 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged.
