Int’l tenders through e-GP soon

DHAKA, Oct 27, 2019 (BSS) – The government is going to float international tenders through e-GP (electronic government procurement) soon as all necessary documents have already been prepared in this regard.

The information was revealed at a meeting for forming a committee of the Bangladesh Government-Tenderers’ Forum (BGTF) at the conference room of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) at Tejgaon in the city today, said a press release.

The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of the Implementation Monitoring Evaluation Division (IMED) under the Planning Ministry organized the meeting where a 15-member convening committee of BGTF was formed.

CPTU Director General (Additional Secretary) Md Ali Noor attended the meeting as the chief guest while Director (Training and Coordination), CPTU, IMED Shish Haider Chowdhury was present as the special guest.

Chief Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Abdus Sattar was made convener while Senior System Analyst of Roads and Highways Department (RHD) Kazi Saida Momtaj and Managing Director of Spectra Group Engineer Khalid Hossain co-conveners and Managing Director of Mozahar Enterprise Kazi Mozaharul Haque member secretary of the committee.

Ali Noor said the BGTF was formed in order to expedite implementation of public procurement maintaining quality and develop professional relationship under the conditions of contracts between tenderers and procuring entities.

The tenderer becomes part of the government’s development programme, he added.

He said the objective of the BGTF is to create scopes for dialogue between the two parties to resolve any confusion arising out in public procurement by themselves through dialogues and discussions.
