President returns home tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 26, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid will return home tomorrow, wrapping up his eight-day visit to Japan and Singapore.

“A regular aircraft (flight no SQ 446) of Singapore Airlines Limited carrying the President and his entourage is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport at 10:40 pm tomorrow,”

President’s deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told BSS today.

President Hamid is scheduled to leave Changi International Airport, Singapore, for Dhaka at 8:35 pm (local time) tomorrow, ending his two-day stop-over in Singapore.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Singapore Mustafizur Rahman will see the President off at the airport.

The head of the state reached Singapore yesterday, ending his six-day official visit to Japan from October 20.

On Tuesday, Abdul Hamid joined the enthronement ceremony of Japan’s new emperor, who formally declared his ascension as the 126th monarch in front of about 2,000 leaders and representatives from 174 countries and regions at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

The 59-year-old Emperor Naruhito ascended the chrysanthemum throne on May 1, following the abdication of his 85-year-old father Emperor Emeritus Akihito.

As part of the ceremony, the President attended the Palace Banquet hosted by Japanese new Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako the same day. He also attended the banquet hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the next day.

President Hamid left Japan for Singapore on Oct 25. He will return home tomorrow, the DPS added.
