9 researchers awarded ‘Mirza Banu, Sirajul Islam Endowment Fund’ Award
DHAKA, Oct 24, 2019 (BSS) – Nine researchers were awarded Mirza Banu and
Sirajul Islam Endowment Fund Award’ for their outstanding contributions to
original research in history.
Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah
distributed the award among the researchers today at Sirajul Islam Lecture
Hall of Dhaka University (DU).
DU History Department organised the event.
Chairman of the Department of History of DU Prof Dr Ahmed Abdullah Jamal
presided over the programme while Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Abu Md
Delwar Hossain and donor of the Endowment Fund Prof Dr Sirajul Islam
addressed it as special guests.
Chairman of the Bangladesh Shishu Academy and prominent writer Selina
Hossain delivered Mirza Banu Memorial Lecture. Prof Dr Asha Islam Nayeem,
daughter of Mirza Banu and Sirajul Islam and other members of their family
were present on this occasion.
The recipients of Mirza Banu and Sirajul Islam Endowment Fund Award are
Murshida Binte Rahman, Shahid Kader Chowdhury, Ananda Bikash Chakma, Sayed
Rezaul Karim, Miltan Kumar Deb, Ashrafunnahar, Md Shahiduzzaman, Sanjida
Khanom and Shuvashish Majumder.
