Hasan urges media to portray true history of Liberation War

DHAKA, Oct 24, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today urged the media to portray the true history of the country’s Liberation War imbued with its spirit.

“Newspapers can play a pivotal role to take the country ahead by presenting accurate information,” he said while addressing the ninth founding anniversary ceremony of English newspaper the Daily Sun in the capital’s Bashundhara residential area here.

Dr Hasan Mahmud said the media has a great responsibility in empowering people and the Daily Sun works to this end. He wished success of the newspaper.

Earlier, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury joined the daylong ceremony as the chief guest.

“As pro-liberation media, the Daily Sun projects success stories of Bangladesh. The newspaper is expected to continue objective journalism for welfare of the country and its people,” she said.

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader, its Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga, former Secretary General Ruhul Amin Howlader and BNP standing committee member Mahbubur Rahman, also joined the function.

Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, Editor of the Daily Sun Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Editor of the Kaler Kantha Imdadul Haque Milon, Editor of the Bangladesh Pratidin Naim Nizam and Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Farida Yasmin were present at the event.

Chairman of Basundhara Group and East West Media Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Ambassador of Brazil in Dhaka Joao Tabajara de Oliveira and Bashundhara Group Co-Chairman Sadat Sobhan Tanvir were also present on the occasion.
