Bashundhara Kings stay on semifinal course
DHAKA, Oct 24, 2019 (BSS)- Lebanon recruit striker Mohamad Jalal Kdouh
scored a brace as Bashundhara Kings shrugged of their previous match defeat
as they bunched back to register a fighting 3-2 goal win over Chennai City FC
of India in their second group B match of the Sheikh Kamal International Club
Cup Football Tournament held on Thursday at MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram.
With the day’s feat, Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara
Kings secured three points from two matches while Chennai City FC failed to
open their account playing the same number of matches.
It was the crucial match for the teams following their first match
defeats as the day’s result meant Chennai City almost exit from the
tournament race.
In the day’s match, Kdouh opened an account for Bashundhara Kings early
in the 6th minute while Manzi restored the parity for the Indian side in the
43rd minute of the match.
After the resumption, Bashundhara further took lead as Duyshobekov
scored the second goal for his team in the 59th minute. However Sheriff again
brought Chennai FC in the match scoring the second goal in the 71st minute.
But, it was Kdouh who sealed the victory for Bashundhara scoring the
second and third for the team two minute before the long whistle.
Bashundhara Kings dominated the proceeding and notched their deserving
victory while Chennai also played good football but they failed to utilize
some scoring chances, especially in the second half.
Bashundhara Kings will play their third and final match against
Terengganu FC while Chennai City meet Gokulam Kerala FC scheduled to be held
on Saturday (October 26) at the same venue.
Earlier, Bashundhara Kings lost to Gokulam Kerela FC of India by 1-3
goals while Chennai City FC suffered a 3-5 goals defeat to Terengganu FC of
Malaysia in both their respective group opening matches.
Friday’s matches: Young Elephants FC vs TC Sports Club at (4 pm) and
Chattogram Abahani vs Mohun Bagan at 7 pm , at the same venue.
