JS body hopes ongoing anti-graft drive to be continued

DHAKA, Oct 24, 2019 (BSS) – Parliamentary Standing Committee on the
Ministry of Home Affairs today welcomed the ongoing drive against
irregularities, casinos and graft and hoped that the current drive will
continue in the days to come.

The JS committee also congratulated the Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina for
initiating such move to eliminate corruption from the country, according to
an official release here.

The committee at its eighth meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban discussed
various issues, including the celebration of ‘Mujib Year’ in 2020 marking the
birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,
added the release.

The committee also discussed issues, including probe commission on the
assassination of Bangabandhu formed in the UK and its jurisdiction,
collection of information and creation of documentaries on the memory of
Bangabandhu by police force, introducing special desk for children, old women
and challenged people at all the police stations and upgrading of the 999
national emergency service.

With committee chairman M Shamsul Haq Tuku in the chair, the meeting was
also attended by committee members – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, M
Afsarul Ameen, Shamsul Alam Dudu, M Faridul Haque Khan, Pir Fazlur Rahman and
Sultan Mohammad Monsur Ahmad.
