DHAKA, Oct 24, 2019 (BSS) – Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury today urged journalists to play responsible role towards the
society by providing objective news to readers being imbued with the spirit
of Liberation War.
“One of the most important duties of the mass media is to uphold spirit of
the Liberation War while presenting news to the nation…You should have the
courage to present the truth on behalf of the country, ” a press release
quoted her as saying.
She said while addressing as the chief guest the 9th founding anniversary
of The Daily Sun in Basundhara residential area in the city.
“The mass media of Bangladesh is passing its golden era under the dynamic
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as the government believes that
mass medias’ effective role boosts the practice of democracy,” she said.
On the occasion of the founding anniversary, she congratulated The Daily
Sun officials and employees.
She inaugurated the day long programme of the founding anniversary by
cutting a cake.
Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, Editor of the Daily Sun Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Editor of the Kaler Kantha Imdadul Haque Milon and Editor of the Bangladesh Pratidin Naim Nizam were present in the event.
Chairman of Basundhara Group and East West Media Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Ambassador of Brazil in Dhaka Joao Tabajara de Oliveira were also present.
