‘Hossain Jamal Memorial Trust Fund’ established at DU
DHAKA, Oct 23, 2019 (BSS) – A new trust fund titled “Hossain Jamal Memorial
Trust Fund” has been established at Dhaka University (DU).
Professor Dr. Lafifa Jamal of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics
Engineering of DU and daughter of late Hossain Jamal handed over a cheque for
Taka 10 lakh to the DU Treasurer Prof Dr. Md Kamal Uddin today at the Vice-
Chancellor’s office to set up the trust fund.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr. Md Akhtaruzzaman, DU Arts Faculty Dean
Prof Dr Abu Md Delwar Hossain, Chairperson of Robotics and Mechatronics
Engineering Department Dr. Shamim Ahmed Deowan, late Hossain Jamal’s wife
Meena Hossain and Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman were present on this
occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who
will secure the highest CGPA in BA/BSS (Honors) examinations among the
Departments of Islamic History and Culture, Political Science and Economics
of DU will be given “Hossain Jamal Memorial Gold Medal”.
Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donor for her donation and also paid glowing
tribute to the memory of late Hossain Jamal.
Late Hossain Jamal was born on October 25, 1945 in Narayanganj. He obtained
both Honors and Master degree from the Department of Islamic History and
Culture of DU. He died on September 7, 1976 at the age of only 31 years.
