145 companies fined for food adulteration
DHAKA, Oct 23, 2019 (BSS) – As the part of authorities’ move to stop selling adulterated food items and goods and free the consumers from clutches of unscrupulous traders, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Tuesday fined 145 companies Taka 6,22,700.
During the drives, they monitored 53 markets throughout the country and fined and realized 6 lakh 22 thousand 700 taka from 145 companies – for not showing the price list, for making food products at unhealthy places and selling goods without any MRP seal and expired foods, including medicine, cheating with customers while weighing products, using banned ingredients in foods and not showing any price list.
The drives were conducted in Dhaka city, Chattagram city, Mymensingh, Gazipur, Netrokona, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Tangail, Munshiganj,Gopalganj, Coxs bazar, Rangpur, Habiganj, Panchagarh and Sylhet of the country.
Besides, leaflets and pamphlets are distributed among the public to raise awareness.
Among others, District Administration, District Police, Armed Police Battalion, Civil Surgeon, Sanitary Inspector, Fisheries Officer and officials of local administration were present during the drives.
