Nirmul Committee condemns Bhola violence

DHAKA, Oct 21, 2019 (BSS) – Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, which was formed to resist killers and collaborators of Liberation War of 71, has expressed deep concern and condemn over the violence erupted in Borhanuddin, Bhola district yesterday centering a Facebook post.

In a statement signed by 83 eminent personalities today, the committee said the communal violence took place in Bhola on Sunday was a part of a continuous and planned plot.

Spreading rumous through Facebook is a regular tactic of communal forces aiming to instigate communal violence, carry out attacks on minorities and give threat to them, the statement said, adding those, who want to create anarchy and social instability by spreading rumours over religious issues and bypassing the legal process, are enemies to build a non-communal, peaceful and harmonious Bangladesh.

The evil forces are out to turn Bangladesh into a communal state by resisting the spirit of the Liberation War and halting its development, the statement read.

The committee demanded the government to take necessary actions against the communal and fundamental forces and urged the authorities concerned to take steps so that Biplab Chandra Baidya, whose Facebook ID was hacked and rumous was spread hurting religious sentiments, could not face any harassment.

Four people were killed and dozens others injured in a clash in Bhola on Sunday centering a facebook post that spread hatred on religious sentiments.
